2017 NLC Congressional City Conference

Wasington, DC, March 11-15, 2017

State College Borough is a member of the National League of Cities, a non partisan advocacy organization representing cities and towns across the nation.

In March, local elected officials spoke to their Congressional Delegations about proposed changes to the Federal budget that will have a direct affect on all of us.

Community Development Block Grant funding and passage of the E-Fairness Act were top priorities. Block Grant funding is essential for communities to provide infrastructure improvements. E-fairness hopes to end the special treatment that the online marketplace receives at the expense of brick-and-mortar retailers.

More than 2,000 city leaders and delegates from cities and towns across the country convened in Washington for the 50th annual National League of Cities (NLC) Congressional City Conference to advocate for city priorities with Congress and the Administration.

President Barack Obama addressed delegates Monday, March 9 speaking about the many partnerships and connections that unite all levels of government working to make our communities, and our country, stronger.
